With the days becoming warmer, PATRIZIA UK has announced a summer programme of healthy lifestyle and social initiatives for people working at Winnersh Triangle, and has unveiled a new dedicated event space.

PATRIZIA UK is committed to creating an enjoyable environment for the 5,000-plus employees, working for some 70 occupiers, at the award-winning 90-acre business park near Reading.

Reportedly, work-related anxiety and stress form the second most common reason for sickness absence, costing the UK economy between £3.7 billion and £7 billion each year. Research suggests that employees who exercise daily reduce their risk of anxiety and stress levels by more than 40 percent and single sessions of moderate intensity exercise has been shown to reduce short term reactions to stress, thus improving workers overall wellbeing and productivity levels.

The launch of Winnersh Triangle’s summer programme – which focuses on cycling, walking and live music events – comes during National Bike Week (June 11-19, 2016). An annual fixture to promote cycling, this year’s Bike Week is encouraging people to cycle to work.

Ahead of Bike Week, Winnersh Triangle hosted a series of cycling initiatives at the park. Occupiers were able to drop in for a free Dr Bike session to check and adjust their bikes, as well as to impress their colleagues by power pedalling their way to a free smoothie. My Journey Wokingham’s special juicing bike was on site as part of its Get Back to Cycling campaign, along with the opportunity for budding cyclists to borrow bikes and find encouragement and support with road safety information, maps / routes, and other cycling tips.

From pedals to feet: Winnersh Triangle also took the initiative with National Walking Month in May to organise regular lunchtime walks with My Journey Wokingham. The fortnightly lunch-time strolls will take place throughout the summer until the end of September, encouraging workers to take a break and enjoy the green space around the business park. A gentle walk during lunch can buoy people’s moods and ability to handle stress, increasing productivity and happiness at work.

A series of live music events over the summer will also keep people on their toes. The sessions will take place each Wednesday lunch-time on The Green, a dedicated area of landscaped space created for people working at or visiting the park to take a break. A newly-installed ‘stretch tent’ provides the ideal music venue – and a practical one for the British summer, come rain or shine.

As a result of the success of previous events, and to support the business park community, PATRIZIA has also invested in creating a dedicated area in which to host its regular events. Legal workshops, language classes, yoga, Pilates, hairdressing, blood donation and shoe repairs will all be run from the new area.

Commenting on the various initiatives, PATRIZIA UK commercial director Will Lawrie said: “We’re pleased to launch our social and wellbeing programme at Winnersh Triangle. We know that a good work-life balance creates a happier, more productive environment and allows companies and employees to flourish. It’s important to us that occupiers enjoy everything the park has to offer – it’s an exceptional space, with first-class facilities and amenities creating a great place to relax, as well as work.”

Occupying a site of 90 acres, Winnersh Triangle is an established mixed-use business park providing 1.45m sq ft of office, industrial, data centre, R&D and amenity accommodation. Easily accessible by road just off junction 10 of the M4, Winnersh Triangle also benefits from its own train station within walking distance. On-site amenities include a four-star hotel with restaurant, conference facilities and a range of leisure facilities, plus a retail store, café, nursery and ATM.

Winnersh Triangle was acquired in July 2013 with funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management LP and real estate investor PATRIZIA UK Ltd.
